I did not serve in the Constitutional Convention. However, I did serve in the state convention and voted against the Constitution. It lays any taxes and duties, and when the people turn to smuggling what will happen? They will put it on the land and take the property of the farmers. They also insist on keeping a standing army in time of peace, when a call on the state militia will serve.
